Canada Launches Online Consultation for 2024 SDG Report

The Government of Canada has launched an online questionnaire seeking input for its 2024 Annual Report on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The initiative, led by Jenna Sudds, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, aims to engage organizations and individuals in a collective effort to build a better world by addressing inequalities, safeguarding the environment, and creating opportunities for all.

The 2030 Agenda, a 15-year global framework adopted by Canada and all United Nations member states in 2015, outlines 17 SDGs and 169 targets to guide nations in achieving a sustainable future. Minister Jenna Sudds emphasized the significance of diverse perspectives, stating, “Canadians, including all orders of government, Indigenous Peoples, civil society, youth, and the private sector, have a role to play in advancing the SDGs and ensuring no one is left behind.”

The questionnaire, available online from December 8, 2023, to February 29, 2024, encourages participation from various groups, including provinces and territories, municipalities, Indigenous Peoples, youth, civil society organizations, and key SDG stakeholders.

The 2024 Annual Report will focus on five specific SDGs—No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Climate Action, Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and Partnerships for the Goals. While all 17 SDGs remain integral to Canada’s policies and programs, these specific goals will be highlighted at the 2024 United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.

By sharing your insights and experiences, you contribute to building a roadmap that reflects the aspirations and concerns of all Canadians.
