Suspect at Large Following Violent Assault and Brazen Car Theft in Whalley

Surrey, B.C. – The Surrey Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) are actively investigating a sequence of severe incidents that began at a business in the Whalley neighbourhood and escalated with the theft of a vehicle. The public is advised to remain vigilant as police work to locate the suspect involved.

The events commenced yesterday on August 2, 2024, around 1:10 p.m., when the Surrey RCMP received a report of a serious assault occurring in the 10200 block of City Parkway. Frontline officers promptly responded to the scene, where they discovered a victim with significant injuries. The victim was immediately transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

Following the assault, the suspect fled the scene by stealing a white Mini Cooper with black stripes and black rims. The stolen vehicle bears the British Columbia license plate D80745. The RCMP has deployed multiple units in the area, actively searching for the suspect and the vehicle.

The suspect is described as a young male, approximately 25 to 30 years old, with a moustache. At the time of the incident, he was wearing black pants, a black and grey hoodie with black arms, and a green baseball cap emblazoned with the word “Cariboo.”

The investigation is in its initial stages, with police officers examining the crime scene, interviewing witnesses, and canvassing the neighbourhood for any available CCTV footage that might provide additional leads. Authorities are working diligently to ascertain the motive behind the assault and subsequent vehicle theft.

Citizens are advised not to approach the suspect or the stolen vehicle if spotted. Instead, they should immediately call 911 to report the sighting to the authorities.
