Police Investigate Suspicious Death in South Airways

The Calgary Police Service is intensifying its investigation into the suspicious death of 19-year-old Jordan Leinen, urging anyone with pertinent information to step forward. The incident, initially believed to have occurred around 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, has been revised to have taken place between 5:45 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. on the same day, following new evidence.

The fatal shooting occurred on the northbound offramp from Deerfoot Trail N.E. to 32 Avenue N.E. Subsequently, the victim’s vehicle, a white 2008 Acura MDX, turned onto westbound 32 Avenue N.E. and proceeded towards the Foothills Medical Centre. Investigators are particularly interested in locating the drivers of three specific vehicles: a black four-door sedan, a white pickup truck, and a white SUV. These vehicles were in close proximity to Leinen’s Acura MDX shortly after the shooting and may hold key information that could advance the investigation.

The Calgary Police Service is appealing to the public for any information related to the incident. Individuals who were driving in the specified areas between 5:45 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. on July 20, 2024, are urged to review any dashcam footage and report anything unusual to the authorities.
