New Brunswick Families to Receive Double Pollution Price Rebate

Starting this week, families and individuals in New Brunswick will benefit from a double pollution price rebate, part of Canada’s efforts to combat climate change while offering financial relief to its residents.

The Climate Action Incentive payment, a quarterly rebate, will provide $184 for a single adult, $276 for a couple, and $368 for a family of four. This double payment covers proceeds from July to September 2023 and October to December 2023. Families will also receive an additional $184 in January 2024.

Importantly, all revenue collected through the federal pollution pricing system returns to the province of origin, ensuring that most households receive more in rebates than they contribute to the system, with low- and middle-income families benefiting the most.

Residents of other provinces, including Alberta, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Saskatchewan, will also receive their quarterly pollution price rebates this week, offering additional financial support to Canadian households.

Beyond the rebates, the government is working to ease the burden of home heating costs, especially for those in Atlantic Canada. By encouraging homeowners to switch to energy-efficient options like electric heat pumps, substantial annual savings can be achieved, making life more affordable for all while championing environmental sustainability.

From cutting heating bills to delivering pollution price rebates, Canada is committed to making life more affordable for its citizens while taking a strong stance in the battle against climate change.
