On August 19, 2023, staff members at the Edmonton Institution, a high-security federal prison, successfully intercepted a package containing an array of contraband and unauthorized items, valued at nearly $400,000.
The confiscated contraband included 43 grams of marijuana, 17 grams of THC, 142 grams of crystal meth, 22 Percodan pills, 131 grams of tobacco, 16 nicotine patches, along with four cell phones and seven SIM cards.
Local law enforcement agencies have been promptly notified, and an internal investigation is currently underway within the institution.
