Correctional Service Canada (CSC) reported a successful seizure of contraband and unauthorized items at Joyceville Institution today. Joyceville Institution, a multi-level security federal facility, saw the confiscation of various illegal items, including marijuana, cocaine, an assortment of unknown pills, stabbing weapons, a cell phone, and a cell phone accessory. The total estimated institutional value of the seized items is $35,100.
CSC employs a range of tools to prevent the entry of drugs into its institutions, including ion scanners and detector dogs, which are used to search buildings, personal property, inmates, and visitors.
To ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone within its facilities, CSC has heightened measures to prevent the introduction of contraband and unauthorized items. The organization collaborates closely with law enforcement agencies to take action against individuals attempting to compromise the safety and security of correctional institutions.
In a proactive step, CSC has established a telephone tip line, accessible at 1‑866‑780‑3784, for all federal institutions. Callers can remain anonymous, ensuring the protection of their identity while providing crucial information.
