The Alberta government announced that 10 new school projects will move forward in Edmonton as part of Budget 2026.
The minister Demetrios Nicolaides said the projects will create and renovate more than 8,400 student spaces and bring the total number of active school projects in Edmonton to 37.
Four projects will go to Edmonton Public Schools, including a K to 9 school in Aster, a K to 6 school in Crystallina Nera, and K to 9 schools in River’s Edge and Stillwater.
Three projects will go to Edmonton Catholic Schools, including a new high school in Windermere and Glenridding Heights, a K to 9 school in Kirkness, and a replacement project at the St. Alphonsus school site.
Another three projects will serve francophone students through Conseil scolaire Centre-Nord, including a replacement for École Jean-Claude Mahé, a new early childhood to Grade 6 school in southwest Edmonton, and a new K to 6 school in north Edmonton.
The Schools Now program aims to add or renovate about 200,000 student spaces across Alberta by 2031-32.
